DESCRIPTION:It is hard to look at Bolton Mansion and not see the hand of Effingham Morris. He created a unique Colonial Revival structure that we think of as Bolton Mansion. However\, there’s more to the story. The rear wing provides numerous about early (18th and/or 19th century) Bucks County farmhouses. Such stone houses are rare in lower Bucks County where native stone was not readily available. Come learn about what is typical and what is unique about the oldest house in Levittown from Jeff Marshall\, the county’s most prominent architectural historian who grew up in Levittown. \nJeff will walk guests around the outside of Historic Bolton Mansion while talking about its architecture. You will then be invited inside to walk around the 1st floor of the Mansion. \nAdditional Information: \nAttire: A portion of this event is outside. You will be walking the grounds on uneven terrain. DESCRIPTION:Hosted by New Jersey Paranormal Investigations \nNew Jersey Paranormal Investigations is hosting an additional exclusive event at the Bolton Mansion in Levittown\, PA. Because our November investigation sold out in less than 6 hours\, they allowed us an additional date right before Halloween!!! \nWe will be holding a 9 hour ghost hunt starting at 7pm to 4am that will include the apartment that has never before been accessible for investigating. In the many years we have held events here\, the apartment was always occupied. Now we are going to be the first team to be able to see if the activity extends into the apartment section. \nThe original section of the house was completed in 1687. For one hundred three years\, the house existed only as the original\, one-room. Then\, in 1790\, The Federal style addition was added to the building. The section to the east of the Phineas Pemberton house has been dated at 1810-1820. The apartment that we now have access to is over the original sections of the house. \nHistoric Bolton Mansion has been on the paranormal radar for more than 50 years. Stories of several spirits including the little girl who is seen looking out of the double windows on the second floor\, the woman in the white dress walking the property and even a ghost cat prowling the floors. These are just some of the spirits who still live in this building. \nDuring renovations they received reports from contractors of seeing children playing on stair landings and adult spirits running from room to room. Our own team has had many experiences in this location including a door opening on its own in the main parlor room\, countless hits on equipment in the basement and throughout the house\, and EVP’s captured. This is a favorite location of our own team member Sandy\, who will be at the event the whole evening. \nJoin us on October 28\, 2023 from 7pm – 4am. \nTickets are $130 per person – Limited to only 12 people. DESCRIPTION:History lovers\, you won’t want to miss this! Author Jennifer Rogers will be speaking about her book\, The Hidden History of Bucks County at Historic Bolton Mansion on Saturday\, December 10th\, 1pm – 3pm. Abbreviated history tours approximately 20 minutes long of the first floor of Bolton Mansion will be available at 1pm and 1:25pm. Light refreshments will be served prior to the start of the lecture at 2pm followed by Q&A and the book signing with the author. Tours are limited to 15 people and the book signing event will be limited to 30 attendees. Tour tickets are sold separately. Books will be available for purchase at the event while supplies last. It is strongly recommended to pre-purchase. \n• 1pm – Tour of Bolton Mansion (15 people)\n• 1:25pm – Tour of Bolton Mansion (15 people)\n• 1:45pm – light refreshments\n• 2pm – Lecture\n• 2:20pm – Q&A\n• 2:40pm – Book Signing \nJennifer Rogers is a passionate historian who dedicates her time to the preservation and education of local history through her volunteer efforts with several organizations. She was appointed to the Upper Southampton Historical Advisory Board in 2014 and served for five years prior to her move to Lower Southampton Township. In June 2022\, Jen was elected President of the Craven Hall Historical Society subsequent to her previous appointment to the Board of Directors in 2012. In her spare time\, she is also a blogger for Visit Bucks County where she pairs History with Pints\, a blog series she hopes will encourage locals and tourists to visit historic sites and breweries in Bucks County. \nAs a graduate of Pennsylvania State University\, Jennifer obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in American Studies\, with a minor in English. While studying at Penn State\, Jen interned at the Spruance Library at Mercer Museum\, where she discovered and transcribed a Civil War soldier’s diary\, completed two undergraduate research projects and also presented her research and transcriptions of the Bucks County Civil War soldier’s diary at the Pennsylvania Historical Association’s Annual Conference. In May 2022\, Jen received her Master of Science in History & Archaeology from the University of Edinburgh in Scotland. She researched and submitted her dissertation on female soldiers of the Civil War. \nFor more than two years\, she was the Collections Manager and Preservation and Communications Associate for the SS United States Conservancy. Currently\, Jen is the Marketing Content Manager at Peddler’s Village.\nIn her book\, published by Arcadia Publishing\, Jennifer Rogers recounts lesser-known history of Bucks County. Bucks County was an original county in William Penn’s newly formed Pennsylvania province and has carried the weight of history ever since. Industrial power in the region expanded in the late 1700s as Irish laborers sacrificed life and limb to construct a section of the Pennsylvania Canal and the Durham Furnace. In 1921\, a gruesome train wreck claimed the lives of twenty-seven people\, forever leaving its tragic mark on the busy rail lines emerging from Philadelphia. Raised a Quaker in Doylestown\, James A. Michener went from local English teacher to Pulitzer Prize–winning author\, leaving his philanthropic mark at the art museum named for him.

DESCRIPTION:It is time for Heart to Hearth Cookery’s annual fall hearth cooking class at Historic Bolton Mansion\, Levittown\, PA. The date will be Saturday November 5\, 2022 with a starting time of 10 am. The class prepares a dinner using receipts (recipes) from historic receipt books/manuscripts at the 18th century hearth and then we dine in the parlor. (estimated end time 5 to 6 pm).  \nI limit the number of participants and the class has a few openings at this time. In order to maximize learning experiences\, I do not write the bill of fare until after I know the participants.  \nThe fee is $90.00 per person.
