SUMMARY:Understanding Bolton: A rare surviving eighteenth century stone house
DESCRIPTION:It is hard to look at Bolton Mansion and not see the hand of Effingham Morris. He created a unique Colonial Revival structure that we think of as Bolton Mansion. However\, there’s more to the story. The rear wing provides numerous about early (18th and/or 19th century) Bucks County farmhouses. Such stone houses are rare in lower Bucks County where native stone was not readily available. Come learn about what is typical and what is unique about the oldest house in Levittown from Jeff Marshall\, the county’s most prominent architectural historian who grew up in Levittown. \nJeff will walk guests around the outside of Historic Bolton Mansion while talking about its architecture. You will then be invited inside to walk around the 1st floor of the Mansion. \nAdditional Information: \nAttire: A portion of this event is outside. You will be walking the grounds on uneven terrain.
