Do you love history? Do you love event planning? Do you just want to get more involved in the community? Whatever your reason, we have a volunteer opportunity for you! Friends of Bolton Mansion relies on the efforts of individuals like you to keep the history alive.

We have several opportunities available, depending on your interest and availability. Volunteers play a vital role in helping us with preservation of photos and documents, special events, fundraising, tours and more. We will provide basic training to ensure you’re prepared for your new role.

Your role will be to increase awareness and understanding of Friends of Bolton Mansion and our mission with the community. This position plays a pivotal role in helping us connect with people in our community who want to help preserve our history. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of all social media platforms and insights as to emerging trends in advertising. They need to be innovative with their ideas to help our message break through and connect with our community. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Curate and create brand-appropriate content to post daily across all social media channels – including Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, YouTube, Instagram, and more
  • Report on monthly social media activities
  • Monitor social media channels for timely response to customer feedback, important news, and questions to relay to appropriate Board Member
  • Work with other volunteers to help build and maintain a brand voice and tone, ensuring consistency across all touch-points in the community member journey

Requirements:

  • Working towards a marketing degree or a passion for Social Media marketing.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills are essential, as well as demonstrated experience in social media strategy, execution, and reporting
  • Proven relationship building skills
  • Detail oriented
  • Innovative
  • Resourceful

We are seeking a focused, detail-oriented individual to DESIGN a new logo, flyers, brochures, displays and emails for Bolton Mansion’s marketing campaigns. You must be able to collaborate with Board of Directors and other project team volunteers for design and planning, but also able to work independently and efficiently to meet deadlines. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Conceive, design and produce professional creative marketing pieces for print and web that will establish and reinforce Bolton’s brand, image and message.
  • Design and manage all assigned projects in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Work with other volunteers to help build and maintain a brand voice and tone, ensuring consistency across all touch-points in the community member journey

Requirements:

  • Working towards a marketing degree or a passion for graphic design marketing.
  • Must be self-motivated with a strong desire to develop existing skills while maintaining an emphasis on learning new techniques.
  • Solid knowledge of Photoshop or a similar product.
  • Proven relationship building skills.
  • Detail Oriented

  • Resourceful

If your passion involves History, the Theater, Culture & Drama, come and join our team of TOUR GUIDES at Historic Bolton Mansion. Your job is to inform and entertain guests during our Open House Tours. We are looking for high energy, enthusiastic, responsible individuals who enjoy working with the public.

*MONTHLY OPEN HOUSE TOURS ARE THE 2ND SUNDAY OF THE MONTH AND BEGIN AT 12:00 PM – 3:00PM

TOURS DEPART EVERY 20-30 MINS.

*Dates and times of tours are subject to change depending on events at the mansion and holidays

Additional Details and Qualifications:

  • High energy, friendly and outgoing
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to speak effectively and confidently in front of an audience
  • Ability to interact comfortably with people with diverse backgrounds and interests
  • Ability to effectively retain large amounts of detailed information
  • Previous public speaking, acting, customer service and/or sales experience a plus
  • Enthusiastic history buff
  • Willing to work on weekends
  • Willing to dress in period clothing (1700-1800s)
